[About L2A3 type]
The British submachine gun L2A3, commonly known as the Sterling SMG, was developed during World War II and adopted in 1953 as a close-combat weapon to complement the long-range, high-powered L1A1 (FAL) main rifle. The style of the magazine protruding from the side of the iron pipe-like body is reminiscent of its predecessor, the Sten SMG, and in fact some of the Sten's production equipment could be reused. Although it has a simple blowback and open bolt structure, it has ingenious features not found in the Sten, such as a bolt carrier that scrapes out sand and dust when activated and a rotating stock. The blaster rifles that appear in science fiction blockbusters are stage guns based on the Sterling SMG, and it can be said that it was a gun that played a spectacular role in the silver screen.
