Kaiyodo Ultraman (Type B) Finished Product CHARACTER CLASSICS

The Character Classics series delivers painted, finished products that are as close as possible to masterpieces, through hand-crafted resin reproduction and painting by professional finishers.

The latest version, Type B, will be released following the "Ultraman (Type C)".
The A-type mask, which had a latex outer skin stretched over an FRP backing, was changed to a completely molded FRP mask, and the details of the body design were also revised to create the new B-type.

This is the most representative suit that was used the most in all 39 episodes of "Ultraman," from episodes 14 to 29.
Takashi Kinoshita was also confident in the "Ultraman (Type B)" released by Character Classics in 2017, but this time he has re-examined the overall balance of the body and sculpted it from scratch.

He stands with his arms slightly forward and his chest out, looking even more dignified, and the mask has a more rounded, three-dimensional look compared to Character Classics' previous B-type, and delicate adjustments have been made to express the beauty of his smooth facial features.

In addition, in the actual figure, there is a difference in height from the chest to the waist due to the correction material placed under the suit, and the unique bulge in the abdomen due to the excess suit can be felt.The aim was to create the proportions that are characteristic of Type B, while also taking into consideration the beauty of a hero and creating a well-defined body line.
If you display it next to the separately sold Character Classics "Ultraman (Type A)," you can compare the differences in their designs and get a sense of the evolution of the suit that was created through repeated trial and error on set.

●Through thorough verification, the characteristics of the suit used in the filming were captured at an anatomical level, and appropriate adjustments were made so that when you see the approximately 35cm tall figure, it looks "just like the image in the movie."
Kinoshita Takashi's unique, "realistic" design goes beyond mere realism to create an ideal image of a hero.

-The attention to detail as a hero is reflected in the specifications.
During filming, the seams were obscured by cutting up a surgical glove into pieces and covering the suit, but in order to emphasize the flow of the outline of the leg, we deliberately reproduced the style of the boots seen in the stills immediately after the suit was completed.

●The built-in illumination gimmick makes the eyes and color timer, which are made from clear parts, light up.
The yellowish tinge of the eyes, a result of using a 6V6W candid bulb for a bicycle headlight, and the vivid blue of the color timer are both reproduced using LEDs with carefully selected hues.
The mask part, which has a built-in battery and switch, can be easily and securely attached and removed using a magnet.

Sculptor's comments

The B type has been completely redesigned, with an eye towards balancing the entire body.
In terms of the mask, we have revised the length and depth of the chin compared to the previous design, aiming to create a more rounded, three-dimensional appearance when viewed from below.
Although the body is more modest than Type C, we aimed to create an atmosphere unique to Type B, such as the shape of the shoulders and chest, and the sagging abdomen.
In the movie, he appears to be wearing a surgical glove with the wrist section cut into a ring to hide the seam where the shoes meet at his ankles, but this would disrupt the flow of the outline of his feet, so we decided to leave it made of steel immediately after the suit was completed.
