New series begins! "The Ultimate Phantom Modeling Series"
This new series from CCP was launched based on the concept of faithfully reproducing the sculptor's carefully crafted designs and turning them into products.
The first in the series, "The Mysterious Ultimate Sculpting Series CCP x Ryu Oyama Gamera 3," created by Ryu Oyama, who is renowned for his creature sculptures, is now available as a pre-painted, finished product!
Although Ryu Oyama has made some bold arrangements, this work is based on the image of "Gamera 3". The coloring is basically based on the suit from Gamera 3. The blue-black body, green shell, and brown plastron. From a distance, it looks like a traditional Gamera. However, the small details are packed with CCP's unique "attention to detail".
First, there is the shell, which can be said to be Gamera's "life." At first glance, it is green and looks to be modeled after the shell of the suit in Gamera 3. However, Ryu Oyama's sculpture is more sinister, spiky, and full of life than the one in Gamera 3 in the movie. I didn't want to end up with a single color for this shell, but rather wanted to bring in an expression that is "unique" to this sculpture. This particular coloring was born from that commitment.
First up is the alligator snapping turtle. It is a large turtle that lives in America, and is said to have been the model for the Heisei Gamera. With its eagle-like beak-like mouth and crocodile-like raised body surface, it is a reptile that can truly be called a modern-day monster. This time, I incorporated elements of the alligator snapping turtle and aimed to express a biological shell. The raised shells of alligator snapping turtles are wide, and many of them have color changes at the tips like patterns. Inspired by this characteristic of the alligator snapping turtle, I gave the shell a biological base color rather than a metallic color, and added variation to the tip of the shell.
Another element is Avan Gamera. This is a monster that appears in the 2006 movie "Gamera: The Brave". When Avan Gamera challenges a horde of Gyaos in a desperate battle at the beginning of the movie, some people may have thought of the end of Gamera 3. Changing the color of the tip of the shell. When I thought of this idea, the first thing that came to mind was Avan Gamera, which was designed based on the Spurred Tortoise, a primitive species of the same species.
The shell was completed by combining two elements: "Alligator Snapping Turtle" and "Avangamela".
I believe this has further brought out the charm of Gamera 3, which is full of Ryu Oyama's strangeness.
Next is the head. This time, Gamera has been given a bold arrangement that makes it seem ferocious. The eyes have been drawn as small as possible to bring out the "fear" of the monster, which is one of the charms of Gamera. In addition, a strong gradation of color using multiple colors is used at the base of the fangs and claws, and the brownish plastron of the alligator snapping turtle, one of the motifs used in the main coloring, is also included as an element, and by layering multiple colors, a vivid and biological texture is expressed.
Please take a look at it and feel the incredible amount of information, meticulous design, and impressive volume.
