In the early 2000s, after experiencing firsthand the limited range and firepower of the M16 during combat in vast desert regions, the U.S. Marine Corps revived the powerful, obsolete M14 rifle, which had been gathering dust in storage.
However, it’s not just a matter of “digging it out.”
Under the guidance of the PWS (Precision Weapons Section)—which possesses shipyard-level technical expertise within the unit—the rifle underwent a thorough overhaul to transform it into a DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) suitable for modern combat.
The old-fashioned wooden stock was replaced with a smooth fiberglass one that fits the shooter comfortably.
It features a high-precision, match-grade stainless steel barrel, and the muzzle has been redesigned with a muzzle brake compatible with suppressors.
Equipped with the ability to accurately deliver the 7.62mm round—whose destructive power is often described as “like being crushed by a hammer”—over long distances, this rifle proved its true worth as a guardian that covered areas beyond the range of standard-issue rifles, serving alongside marksmen and scout snipers.

This kit is a 1/12-scale model of the M14 DMR.
It meticulously reproduces the forms of each part, which have evolved from the M14.
The presence or absence of a suppressor and whether the bipod is deployed or folded are optional.
